The T20 format of the game and especially the Indian Premier League is equally popular among both bettor and cricket fans. The thrill and excitement of IPL matches attract millions of fans from around the world and each year, new faces join IPL teams to showcase their skills and talent. Shubham Gill is one of these players for whom 2020 was going to be a big year.

Gill conducts a Q/A session on Twitter

The 20-year old batsman was likely to get an entire season of IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where he would have opened the innings. Unfortunately, his dreams have now been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The crisis has also ruined his possibility of playing IPL as of now. The young batsman is now spending time with his family just like any other player. During the lockdown period, many cricketers have started interacting with their fans on social media platforms. Following his peers, Gill also decided to conduct a question-and-answer session with his fans on Twitter. During the interaction, fans asked him various questions, and the Punjab batsman duly responded.

When asked to mention his favourite batsman by a fan, Gill unsurprisingly named Sachin Tendulkar. Like many other cricketers, master blaster seems to have inspired this young man as well. Further, a fan also asked who was his favourite foreign batsman. Without messing around the answer too much, Gill named Australia’s former cricketer Ricky Ponting.

Gill shares his experience of playing with Andre Russel

After a few cricketing questions, a fan jumped at the question of football. The fan asked Shubham who he liked more between Ronaldo and Messi. With any hesitancy, the cricketer chose Argentine professional footballer Lionel Messi. Interestingly, there was a question from KKR’s official twitter handle, where the franchise asked Gill to share his batting experience with West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell.

To this, he said that batting with Russell was like watching the highlights match from the non-striker’s end. “From the end of the non-striker, it’s like watching highlights on the TV,” Gill replied.

Shubham Gill is one of those cricketers who seem to have a very bright future in international cricket. He has made giant strides in domestic cricket ever since he was named the man of the tournament at the ICC U19 World Cup 2018.

He has been with the Indian team for the past few months but hasn’t got his opportunity yet. Gill has scored heavily for Punjab in all formats over the past two seasons, and he can enter the Indian team anytime.
